MTAS Gallery October Feature Artist – Josephine Blue

Musson Lane Gallery
October Feature Artist – Josephine Blue

We are very pleased to show Josephine Blue as our feature artist at Musson Lane Gallery for the month of October.

Josephine grew up in an arty family. After high school, she completed a BA at the University of Sydney, majoring in Fine Arts and Education which led her to primary teaching.

Becoming a full-time Mum gave her the opportunity to dabble in art as a hobby. In 1990, they moved to the Hawkesbury where she enrolled in evening courses at TAFE for over 10 years, learning Drawing, Fine Arts, Photography and Ceramics.

She almost finished Fabric Design and Printing but a job teaching art in high school took precedence.

Working as a sales consultant for an art supply company gave Josephine access to new art materials and the opportunity to run art workshops. When she opened Blue Gallery in Richmond, she gave art photography lessons and taught photography at the Hawkesbury Community College.

As President of Hawkesbury Camera Club, she began the “Photos for Children” Competition, where members annually provide photos for the Children’s Ward of Hawkesbury Hospital.

While a member of Hawkesbury Community Arts Workshop, she has developed her own style of art using oil pastels and is currently studying for a Diploma in Art Therapy.

She also enjoys singing in Chorella choir and playing cello in Macquarie Towns Orchestra. She has been working on a series of paintings inspired by photos as well.

In 2011, Josephine took in Monet’s garden in France and is excited and thankful to be exhibiting them here.

Come visit us at the Musson Lane Gallery to view Josephine’s artworks and over 100 works from our members as well.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

The address is Unit 2, 1 Musson Lane, Richmond, NSW 2753.

MTAS Gallery July Feature Artist – Jeff Eyles

Musson Lane Gallery
July Feature Artist – Jeff Eyles

We are very pleased to show Jeff Eyles as our feature artist at Musson Lane Gallery for the month of July.

Jeff has always been an artist at heart and has spent many happy hours on weekends creating art while pursuing his career. After retirement, he completed more formal training at TAFE and has engaged more fully in his art.

Jeff mostly uses Watercolour and Oils in his paintings and also creates linocut printmaking and etchings. He often paints “en Plein Air” (in the open direct from nature or the urban landscape) using skills he has practiced for most of his life.

He is attracted first by the play of light and shade of his subjects. The focus of his art is the light that illuminates the subject and the memories and impressions from his many travels. He always strives to create something visually exquisite and is particularly happy when a viewer sees something moving and beautiful in his work.

Jeff is a member of Macquarie Towns Arts Society and is a category prize winner in 2020 and 2021.

He is based in the Nepean District of Sydney at the base of the Blue Mountains and is a member of the Nepean Art Society, currently its President.

He regularly exhibits with MTAS, Nepean, and other Art Societies as well as other group exhibitions and also solo in galleries mostly in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains. His art is currently held in private collections in Australia, England, and the United States.

Jeff has his art in Cobbitty Gallery and on Bluethumb.

Come and visit to view Jeff’s beautiful array of artworks this Saturday, 16th July from 10am-4pm. CovidSafe practices are in place at our Gallery.
