Rae Woolnough Felting Workshop Sunday, 4th June 2023 10am – 4pm
We have a few spaces left in our Full Day Felting Workshop with Rae Woolnough on this Sunday, 4th June 2023 from 10am – 4pm.
Introduction to Felting
For members and guests with little or no experience in felting. If you have some experience in felting you can come along and have some fun too.
This workshop will cover making felted balls, geodes, ropes/cords, and simple flowers that can easily be turned into jewellery or decorations of many kinds.
We will also make pieces of flat felt that can be used in many applications such as soft furnishings, (cushions, place mats, throws, etc.), book/tablet covers, jewellery, etc.
Techniques will include using resists and adding a multitude of surface designs and embellishments. Participants will learn how to join, cut, shape, and manipulate felt while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the felting process.
When: Sunday 4th June 2023, 10am – 4pm Cost: $70 Members, $75 Non-Members Plus Materials Pack: $20 supplied on the day Address: Stan Stevens Studio, Deerubin Center, 300 George St, Windsor

Workshop Information:
All participants are asked to bring the following 1. Couple of old towels 2. Length of bubble wrap approx.800mm long x 600mm wide. 3. Small pair of scissors (embroidery scissors are best) 4. Bowl/ small bucket for water (re-cycled ice cream buckets or large Yoghurt containers are great) 5. Optional: paper and pen for taking notes (some basic printed notes are provided)
Rae will provide a kit for $20 with the materials required for the workshop.
Workshop Kit includes: Cost: $20.00 pp (items can be sold separately if required) – 100 grams of merino wool roving in complimentary colours ($10.00) – 0.25 metres of coloured merino pre-felt ($5.00) – Embellishments – silk material, silk fibre and other embellishments ($3.00) – Pipe Cleaners and floristry wires ($1.00) – Decorative ribbon ($1.00) – Re-cycles various resist material (No Cost) – Soap Solution (No Cost) – Use of dry felting needle and felting pad (No Cost) – not included in kit price but, can be purchased separately for $3.00 extra
About Rae Woolnough:
Rae Woolnough is a Textile Artist who specialises in the medium of felt.
Rae’s love of art and textiles has been a lifelong interest, from sewing her first garment at eight years of age to designing and making her own wedding dress, there has always been a connection with textiles and design.
She prefers working with natural products such as fine merino wool, alpaca, and silk and is on a constant quest to find beautiful and unique yarns to use as embellishments in her artworks.
Rae has exhibited her work through solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout Australia. Her artworks are held in collections throughout Australia and Internationally.

John Rice Oil Painting Workshop “Gum Trees, Rivers, She Oaks in Oils” Sunday, 9th October 2022
The Nepean Art Society is excited to have a full-day workshop with John Rice on Sunday, 9th October 2022 covering “Gum Trees, Rivers, She Oaks in Oils.” Please hurry and register your interest as there are only a few spots left!

Workshop Information: In addition to completing a landscape painting step by step, the workshop will cover drawing, perspective, colour theory, tonal recession, composition, art materials and many other things designed to help you become a better artist.
Competency Level: It is suitable for absolute beginners to the more advanced.
About John Rice:
John learned most of his painting skills from getting out and painting thousands of paintings. His primary influences have been the Heidelberg School of Australian impressionists and the work of Sir Hans Heysen.
A former schoolteacher and Principal with 40 years of experience, John conducts workshops and demonstrations at his home studio in Mulgoa and for many Sydney, country and interstate art groups. He is also frequently called upon as a judge for art society exhibitions.
