Monthly Demonstration Meeting with Margaret Walters, Mixed Media Art Journals 7.30pm, 12th August 2025
For our next Demonstration Meeting we are looking forward to having Margaret Walters with us to demonstrate her techniques of mixed media journaling. The meeting is on Tuesday, 12 August 2025, at 7:30 pm in the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Centre, Windsor.
On the night Margaret will be working on one of her journals, using a mixture of materials such as photos, maps, poems, maybe using a discarded book, replacing pages with art paper to make something truly unique. Her work is decorative and delightful. Margaret will bring a selection of her journals and artwork to display and talk about.
Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.
Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.
About Margaret Walters:
Margaret Walters is a self-taught artist who began her creative journey as a ceramist in the 1990s. Her ceramic works are included in public and private collections in Japan, China, the USA, Europe, and the UK.
Over the years, her practice has evolved to explore textile art, spinning and weaving, handmade books, painting, and sculpture.
Today, she focuses on mixed media painting – often incorporating collage – and creating playful, abstract sculptures using recycled wood and metal. Her art leans toward the expressive and intuitive, capturing feeling rather than realism.
Margaret was a finalist in the 2019 Greenway Prize. She also keeps a regular practice every day working in art journals, using old maps, poetry, and discarded books to create richly layered pages.
Living on a rural property overlooking the Nepean floodplain and the Blue Mountains for over forty years, Margaret draws constant inspiration from the natural world around her.
