MTAS Art Group Wednesday, 21st May 2025 Hawkesbury Showground 10am – 4pm
Our next Art Group will be on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, from 10am to 4pm, back at the Horse Judges Hut, Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.
Come enjoy the company of fellow art enthusiasts, and bring a project, art, craft, or any hobby.
Members and guests are welcome. Please bring your own food. We supply tea and coffee.
Our next Art Group dates will be on 4th & 18th June 2025.
To get to the Horse Judges Hut at the Hawkesbury Showground you can enter by Gate 4 (the carpark gate) and drive in taking the 3rd road on the right to take you to the far side of the show ring. The hut is a separate building on the right with some gravel parking. It has a shady verandah with chairs and nearby toilets.
Inside there is air conditioning, fridge, sink, kettle, microwave, tables and chairs. The HDAA are kindly allowing us to attend for $2 per person.

Opening night is on Friday, 23rd May at 7pm. The Exhibition will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Monthly Demonstration Meeting with David Newman-White, Portrait in Oil Pastels 7.30pm, 13th May 2025
A reminder to all that the esteemed artist David Newman-White will be joining us for our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, 13th May 2025, at 7:30 PM in the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Centre, Windsor.
David will showcase his expertise and demonstrate techniques for portrait painting in oil pastels.
PLEASE NOTE! On the night of the Meeting, those who wish to enter go into a draw, and a lucky attendee will be selected to sit for David’s live portrait demonstration. The winner will not only be featured in the artwork but will also be given the finished portrait to take home! (You are very welcome to attend and not enter the draw as well).
Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.
Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.
About David Newman-White:
David Newman-White is a highly acclaimed Australian visual artist and educator with over 34 years of teaching experience. He has taught at a range of institutions including East Sydney, Liverpool, Penrith and Seaforth TAFE, The Gallery School at Meadowbank, Nepean Art and Design Centre, Western Sydney Institute, and the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum (National Trust).
His work has been exhibited both across Australia and internationally, including in New York, Oregon, and Switzerland.
Drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Baroque traditions, David continues to create impactful large-scale works, most recently for the Lithgow Baptist Church.
Born in Nowra in 1952, David holds multiple qualifications in visual arts and education, including a Master of Arts (Hons) from the University of Western Sydney. He now lives and paints in the Blue Mountains with his wife.
