Hawkesbury Show 2024 Entries Close – Tuesday, 2nd April
Entries are closing very soon for some of the pavilion sections for the Hawkesbury Show 2024.
The annual show runs from 19th -21st April 2024, with the Open & Open Junior Art, Photography and all Craft sections closing on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024 at 4.00pm.
For those who are planning to submit artwork, please ensure that your entries have been placed by this time online. You can also place paper entries via email or at the showground office. The office is open on Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Our next Art Group will be on Wednesday, 20th March from 10am to 4pm at the Horse Judges Hut, Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.
Come enjoy the company of fellow art enthusiasts, and bring a project, art, craft, or any hobby.
Members and guests are welcome. Please bring your own food. We supply tea and coffee.

To get to the Horse Judges Hut at the Hawkesbury Showground you can enter by Gate 4 (the carpark gate) and drive in taking the 3rd road on the right to take you to the far side of the show ring. The hut is a separate building on the right with some gravel parking. It has a shady verandah with chairs and nearby toilets.
Inside there is air conditioning, fridge, sink, kettle, microwave, tables and chairs. The HDAA are kindly allowing us to attend for $2 per person.
Monthly Demonstration Meeting with Suzy Strout – Wax & Oils 7.30pm, 12th March 2024
Reminding all that our monthly meeting with Suzy Strout as the artist is on Tuesday, March 12th, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Center Windsor.
Suzy will showcase cold wax & oil techniques in her demonstration.
Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.
Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.
About Suzy Strout:
Suzy Strout is a Sydney-based artist who, for over 37 years, was responsible for overseeing the manufacture of costumes, wigs, shoes & makeup for 18 major musicals in Australia and across the southern hemisphere.
Suzy also designed costumes for the Australian productions of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and A Murder Is Announced, and the two recent productions of Mamma Mia – Australian Tour.
Suzy’s art practice is now her focus. She took part in her first group exhibition in 2016 and her first solo exhibition in 2020, and regularly exhibits with Drummoyne Art Society and in her local Inner West area.
Suzy’s art emphasises the textures and shapes in nature and her style uses a range of mediums from pen & wash, acrylic, and more recently oil and cold wax medium.

We are looking forward to welcoming Jose Gutierrez for our first monthly meeting of 2024 on February 13th, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Center Windsor.
Come along to see Jose’s beautiful painting techniques in oil.

About Jose Gutierrez:
Jose Gutierrez received his fine arts training at a very young age in Chile. After 6 years of art studies, he joined a local advertising agency in Santiago where he became a graphic designer in his late teens.
In 1972, at age 27, Jose and his family migrated to Australia. He continued working in graphic design upon his arrival in the country and after 3 years of employment, he opened his own graphic design practice in Sydney. He has owned and managed this business for nearly 30 years.
Aside from his business activities, he continued painting and drawing. He attended art refreshers, workshops, and art classes – Bathurst Summer & Winter workshops, Royal Art Society, etc.
Jose also became a member of the Drummoyne Art Society (DAS), and is currently the President.
With DAS he has participated in many activities and exhibitions of the society. Jose is a passionate and motivated artist who enjoys teaching, painting, and discussing art. He now teaches classes using various mediums at gallery57, Concord.
His mediums of preference are oils, watercolours, acrylics, and drawing. He is also attracted to digital art, computer work, photography, and technology.
